Word of God by Pastor Nick Esguerra

Does God have a plan for you and me? After salvation, what is God’s plan for His children? How do we know His plans for us? How do we know if we are living according to His plans? One of the most wonderful truths revealed in the Bible is the truth that God has a perfect plan for every one of His children.

Jeremiah 29:11
“For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

PASSAGE: Matthew 5:14-16
You are the “Light of the world”
You are a beacon of light.

The world is “in the dark” about God, but Christians “turn on the lights”. Light allows people to see. Christians allow the world to understand how much God loves them and what Jesus has done to restore their relationship with him.

Mathew 5:14-16

14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. 15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Have you ever ask yourself why there are Christians who are ineffective and unproductive in their knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. Ineffective and unproductive in the sense that even though the Lord gave us wonderful privilege to know Him and His words yet this knowledge of Him still finds useless and unfruitful in our lives.

One thing that characterizes our Christian life is our “covenant relationship” with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Sad to say many believers profess that they are Christians but without an intimate relationship with Christ. Christianity is not only about salvation, eternal life, and being followers of Jesus but it is all about our “covenant relationship” with God. Our life as Christians does not stop when we were saved, given eternal life and became followers of Jesus but these are just pre-requisites of having a fruitful and everlasting relationship with God

PASSAGE: Genesis 3:6-7

Genesis 3:6-7 (NIV)

6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.

Why are there so many people around us or even in the whole world that resist the love of God through Jesus Christ or believe in Jesus? Those who do not resist simply could not surrender their lives to Jesus as by doing so implies giving up the personal will over to Christ. And still many could not believe that God, the creator of the universe, holy and just who revealed himself in the flesh through Jesus Christ can actually forgive sins and even grant salvation to the lost sinner.
